1. Track That (Screen) Time
Chances are you're reading this on a screen. Chances are also good that you’ve spent more than enough time on that screen today. Limiting your screen time -- whether it’s your cell phone, computer, or TV -- is a common, but tough, New Year’s resolution. But we believe in you! You can do it this year.
2. Out With The Old, In With The New
If you are anything like us, you’ve probably accumulated quite a collection of electronic devices over the years. Whether you are still using all of them or are instead throwing them in boxes hidden in the deepest, darkest corner of your closet, the electronics clutter can easily pile up.
2020 is the year to clear that out. You don’t need all those wires or old iPhones or half-broken TVs. Trust us.
3. #Delete
Your closets aren’t the only place that waste and clutter can build up. Don’t forget about digital clutter: The apps on your phone. Your emails. The ten thousand pictures of cake on your camera roll.
Start deleting stuff. Clean up that digital mess. Your mind -- and hard drive space -- will be all the better for it.
4. Privacy Check-Up
When was the last time you updated your passwords? Or reviewed which apps and programs have access to your location or other sensitive data?
We’re guilty of letting this slip too, but the New Year is a great time to take some proactive steps to keep your security ship in tip-top shape.
5. Unplug Monthly
Take one day every month and do a total tech detox. Turn your phone off, keep the TV off, and hide those tablets. Do something else instead -- you’ll be surprised how relaxed and rested you feel after!
6. Check Your Headspace
Your Headspace app, that is. Most of this list has focused on things that will help you regulate your technology usage, but the Headspace app is a way for your phone to help you destress through focusing and meditation exercises.
7. Pick up Some Podcasts
Looking for a fun way to learn something new, enhance your knowledge, and do it all while you are at work? One word for you: Podcasts.
If you are interested, there’s a podcast about it. Try to listen to a new one every month, and you’ll be surprised all that you’re able to pick up and learn in 2020.
Hindsight might be 2020, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t plan ahead for the year 2020. Pick up a few of these electronics resolutions, and you’ll easily be able to make 2020 the best year yet!
