6 Jazz Playlists to Blast On Mardi Gras

by Ronald Elias

1. Festive Beginnings

Ready to dance and party, Mardi Gras style? Of course you are, or you probably wouldn’t have clicked on this! Anyways, let’s get things started -- take a listen to Garden&Gun’s Mardi Gras playlist, which includes some no-brainers like Rebirth Brass Band, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, and Trombone Shorty.

And if you get hungry while dancing and jamming, the site also has some recipes that are sure to help you join in the revelry no matter where you are this year. Yum

2. Dancing Straight from Louisiana

It doesn’t get much more authentic than a Mardi Gras playlist straight from Louisiana itself. Louisiana Weekend put together a list of tunes that are sure to get your toes tapping. Whether it’s the Cupid Shuffle, the Cha-Cha Slide, or Boogie Shoes, this list has plenty of songs that are sure to get you in the Mardi Gras spirit.

3. The Master of Mardi Gras

There are Mardi Gras themed playlists, and then there are MASSIVE Mardi Gras playlists. This Spotify playlist by Nicholas Persac really takes the cake … and the pie, and the rest of the dinner table.

With a whopping 343 songs on this playlist, it might take you until next Mardi Gras to make it all the way through it! But at least you won’t be left wanting for Mardi Gras music for some time. Party on, Garth, party on.

4. And Billboard Says...

Billboard knows a thing or two about music, so let’s take a second and check in with them on what we should be listening to this Mardi Gras.

While it isn’t put together as nicely as some of our other lists, this 2018 post does include links to every song, including Dierks Bentley, Rebirth Brass Band, The Soul Rebels, and Fats Domino.

5. Straight to the Source

Let’s head over to another Louisiana website -- this time it’s Go Nola. What did their writer have to say about music that needed to be played this time of year?

There’s a lot of wild -- The Wild Tchoupitoulas, The Wild Magnolias -- as well as Stooges Brass Band, Tom Waits, and Snooks Eaglin. Give it a listen, give it a shuffle -- whatever it takes for you to be ready to parade out your door and have fun this week.

6. Creme de la creme

We’ve gone through a lot of music today already, but if you only have time for one playlist, you probably want to go right to the best one, don’t you?

Boom. Your wish is granted -- here are the top 10 Mardi Gras songs, as decided by Live 363.

Now, how’s that for a Mardi Gras party? We sure feel like we’ve got enough music here to keep us dancing for quite some time. And of course, if the music just doesn’t sound right to you, the issue could be your speakers. Shuffle on over to our shop, we’ll be sure to help you get the best electronics for the best sound, year round!
